Accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 3 November 2026

This statement explains how accessible the Belfast History Festival website is, and how to tell us if something is hard to use.

Our aim is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines explain how to make websites usable by people with a wide range of disabilities.

What we have done

To work towards that target, we:

  • run an automated accessibility check (axe-core) on every page whenever the site is updated, at a desktop and a phone screen width;
  • validate the site’s HTML;
  • build the site to be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator;
  • respect your device’s reduced-motion setting;
  • use fonts that we host ourselves, so they load reliably;
  • give every image a text alternative, including an empty alternative for purely decorative images.

Known limitations

Automated checks cannot catch everything. We are still testing the site with screen readers and on a range of real phones, tablets and computers, and we are working through any issues that testing raises.

Report a problem

If you find something on this site that is hard to use, or you would like any of this content in another format (for example large print), email contact@belfasthistoryfestival.com. Please tell us the page and what you were trying to do, and we will look into it. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
